What's up Black Optmist? How is the 305
treating you? |
 |
I’ve been getting a lot of love from
that hood. I get a lot of people coming
up to me asking, "Where you from?"
Little do they know that a nigga been
living here since I was 10. |

We heard you just finished your much anticipated release “Back 2
Bizniss”. Tell us about it. |
 |
That shit is fiyaaa! 25 tracks of
excellence. I got a lot of heat on
that, you’re going to hear a more mature
Opt on this joint. |
|

Would you consider “Back 2 Bizniss” a
mixtape or a main solo album? |
 |
I always get those 2 mixed up, but I
would call it a mixtape album. The
songs are on an album level but it gives
you a mixtape vibe. |
|

How much time was spent creating the
project, and what were some of the
obstacles during the creation process? |
 |
Officially the album was supposed to be
dropped a long time ago, but I was going
through a lot of shit at the time. But
eventually it all came together and its
finally done for all your ears to peep. |
|

Who are some of the producers we will
hear on the mixtape? |
 |
I got Tucky on there, I wrote a few
songs to 9th wonder, I got
beats from Yessur, and a few other
underground niggaz. |

Sounds like there are a variety of
sounds that we can expect to hear on
“Back 2 Bizniss”. Speaking of the
different sounds, how did you link up
with the features? |
 |
Most of the artist I feature on my
tracks are real lyricist. They’re
local artist with potential and lots of
talent. They all bring a different
element to the table, depending on what
track they’re on. |
|

Are there any songs that you would
consider your favorite? |
 |
I would have to say that Kick Flip is
one of my favorites. A lot of people
wouldn’t expect a Florida artist to rap
on a beat like that. This track
separates me from that stereotype that
all 305 rappers aren’t real lyricists. |

How have you been promoting and selling
the mixtape? Is the overall grind what
you expected? |
 |
The grind is a rough road to travel, but
I gotta do it. I'm out everyday
hustling and talking to people. My
main objective is to be hurd, and I'll
do what it takes for you to get one of
my CD’s in your car. It’s all about
making relationships and networking for
me. |

Reminiscing on your 2004 mixtape “Willy
Wonka’s Hip Hop Factory”, what would you
consider the differences between that
project and this current one? |
 |
The Willy Wonka was a way to get my feet
wet. It was well received by the public,
but people were still sleeping on me.
This time around, a lot of people are
checking for me because my song writing
game has stepped up, and the content is
on the more adult tip. |

Is there anything else you like the fans
to know about Black Optmist or “Back 2
Bizniss” that they might not know
already? |
 |
This is the realest and most epic
mixtape album you’ll get from an
unsigned artist. The CD is enhanced
(meaning you can access interactive
features when its placed in a computer).
I happen to be the first local artist
with that type of quality on a CD. A lot
of niggaz record a CD in less than 5
months, most 4 weeks. But it actually
took me almost 2yrs to complete this
project. What can I say? I’m a
perfectionist man! |

Any shout outs before signing off? |
 |
I’d like to thank the non believers out
there, because without them I wouldn’t
have the drive I have now. Yung
Slug, Rizo, Yessur, my baby moms for
supporting a nigga. My son for being my
number ONE fan. My Family, and everyone
else I forgot to mention. |
